Biography
Born on May 11, 1976.
He graduated from Almaty State University named after Abai and the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
Mr. Serzhan Abdykarimov began his diplomatic activity in 1998 as a referent and after that as an attach é of the Department of International Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 1999, he was posted in the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Korea as an attach é. In 2002, he worked as the Second Secretary of the Department of International Economic Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2002-2005 he worked as the Second Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Republic of Austria and the First Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the UK.
From 2005 to 2008, he held the positions of Director of the Department of Information and Analytical Work and Forecast Assessments, Director of the Department of Europe and America, and Director of the Department of Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 2008-2009, he was the Charg é d'affaires of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Bulgaria. 2009-2012 – Ambassador–at–Large – Director of the OSCE Department, Ambassador-at-Large – Director of the Department of Pan-European Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From 2012 to 2014 he held the position of Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Policy Analysis and Forecasting, and in 2014-2015 – Director of the Department of Foreign Policy Analysis and Forecasting of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From 2015 to 2019, he was the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Czech Republic, as well as to Slovakia concurrently.
Before being appointed Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Indonesia from September 2019 to April 2023 he served as the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
He has the diplomatic rank of the 1st class Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Envoy.
Speaks English, French, Korean, and Indonesian.
