In Astana, awareness-raising activities are being conducted with managers of nightclubs and entertainment venues as part of efforts to prevent drug-related crime.
The meetings are organized under the “Law and Order” principle and the “Astana — a Drug-Free City” plan, in cooperation with the Drug Crime Counteraction Department of the Astana Police Department.
During the meetings, representatives of entertainment venues are informed about measures to prevent offenses, the requirements of the law, and the importance of timely cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
“Currently, one of the most common offenses is the illegal sale of nitrous oxide. Efforts to prevent its distribution are carried out on an ongoing basis. During raids, entertainment venues are inspected, and business owners are informed about the requirements of the law. The sale of nitrous oxide in violation of established requirements may result in criminal liability. We therefore urge businesses to prevent its distribution. In addition, the use of this substance can have serious health consequences,” said Zhandos Seitenov, an operative officer with the Drug Crime Counteraction Department of the Astana Police Department.
Particular attention is being paid to creating a safe environment for visitors and preventing the distribution and use of narcotic substances on the premises of entertainment venues.
Work in this area will continue.
