On August 10, a literary and musical composition dedicated to the 181st anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet, thinker, educator, and composer Abai Kunanbaiuly was held in the foyer of the House of Culture.
The event was a tribute to Abai’s rich spiritual heritage, whose works and words of wisdom remain relevant to this day. Hosts Diana Abzhanova and Zhanibek Nagashbayev spoke about the great poet’s life and creative journey, as well as his aspiration to awaken in people a thirst for knowledge, diligence, honesty, and the desire for self-improvement.
Abai’s works held a special place in the programme. Marhabat Nokishov appeared in the image of the great poet. His poems “Өлең — сөздің патшасы, сөз сарасы”, “Әсемпаз болма әрнеге”, “Ғылым таппай мақтанба”, and “Сенбе жұртқа” were performed, along with literary compositions and musical performances by the participants of the event.
The guests not only listened to the words of the great Abai but also took part in a short quiz, completing well-known lines from the poet’s works. This once again demonstrated how deeply Abai’s words of wisdom have become a part of our lives.
The central message of Abai’s creative legacy — “Адам бол!” — “Be a human being!” — sounded especially meaningful. His moral teachings encourage us to seek knowledge, work honestly, think deeply, and be kind, fair, and responsible.
The event concluded with a flower-laying ceremony at the Abai monument, as a sign of deep respect for the great son of the Kazakh people, whose spiritual heritage continues to live in the hearts of generations.
