The relevant decision was made at a meeting of the commission chaired by Akim of Aktobe Region Askhat Shakharov.
Earlier, 50 state educational grants funded by the local budget were allocated in Aktobe Region for the 2026–2027 academic year to train medical specialists. Of these, 10 grants were designated for bachelor’s degree programs and 40 grants for residency programs.
At the latest commission meeting, the results of a competition among higher education institutions of Kazakhstan, announced from July 13 to 16, were reviewed. According to Aigul Amanzholova, Deputy Head of the Regional Health Department, only one university participated in the competition — Marat Ospanov West Kazakhstan Medical University.
The university meets the main criteria for placing the state educational order for the training of specialists with higher education.
“The university’s modern educational and clinical facilities, along with its experienced academic staff, make it possible to provide high-quality training for doctors needed by the region,” said the Deputy Head of the Department.
Recipients of the grants funded by the local budget will be required to work in healthcare organizations of the region after completing their studies.
