
Nairobi, July 17, 2026 - in order to implement the agreements reached following the state visit of Kenyan President W.Ruto to Kazakhstan in May 2026, a delegation from the Republic of Kazakhstan visited Kenya from July 14 to 17, 2026, which consisted of representatives from JSC “NMC “Tau-Ken Samruk”, “Samruk-Kazyna Invest” LLP, JSC “Kedentransservice”, and “Freedom Bank Kazakhstan” JSC.
During the visit, meetings were organized between the Kazakh delegation and the Kenyan government and private sectors. This included discussions with the Minister for Investments, Trade and Industry L. Kinyanjui, Deputy Minister for Mining G.Kimtai, Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya K.Thugge, Chief Executive Directors of the Nairobi International Financial Centre D.Mainda, Equity Bank P.Igate and Kenya Airways G.Kamal, Vice President of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry M.Ramadan, as well as the Managing Director of Kenya Railways Corporation P.Mainga.
During the meetings, the parties discussed in detail the intensification of bilateral cooperation in the mining, banking, transport and transit, tourism, investment, and agricultural sectors. In addition, the possibilities of launching mutually beneficial joint ventures and introducing Kazakh products to the Kenyan market were also discussed.
Additionally, the Kazakhstan delegation visited the Kenyan seaport of Mombasa, Kenya's key inland dry port "Nairobi Inland Container Depot", as well as tea and coffee plantations. During these field visits, particular attention was paid to the implementation of the agreements reached following W.Ruto's visit to Kazakhstan, specifically regarding the creation of a tea and coffee hub and the utilization of Kenyan ports by the Kazakh side.
Senior Kenyan officials highly praised Kazakhstan's progressive development in various sectors of the economy, noted the friendly relations with Kazakhstan, and expressed Nairobi's readiness and deep interest in implementing the agreements reached at the highest level, as well as further expanding bilateral cooperation with Astana.
Following the meetings, the sides agreed to strengthen cooperation across the entire spectrum of bilateral engagement. This includes collaboration in the mining industry and transit-transport routes (including the use of Kenyan ports), the preparation of feasibility studies in areas of mutual interest, the development of roadmaps for the progressive implementation of top-level agreements, and the exchange of expert-level visits to thoroughly study ways to expand bilateral cooperation.
