Afyonkarahisar, October 24, 2026 – A football tournament among Kazakhstani students studying in Türkiye was held at the Kocatepe Sports Complex in Afyonkarahisar, on the eve of Kazakhstan's national holiday, Republic Day, and as part of events commemorating the 35th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The tournament brought together teams of Kazakhstani students from universities in Bursa, Bartın, Kütahya, Eskişehir, Sakarya and İzmir.
The sporting event attracted more than 200 participants and supporters, bringing together Kazakhstani youth from different regions of Türkiye.
The tournament was organized at the initiative of a Kazakhstani student association, with the support of the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in İzmir and the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Eskişehir.
Following the competition, the team from İzmir emerged as the tournament champion, securing first place and the championship trophy. Teams from Sakarya claimed second and third places.
The award ceremony was also attended by Yılmaz Erşen, Director of Sports Services at the Afyonkarahisar Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, who congratulated the participating athletes.
The event provided an opportunity to strengthen friendships among Kazakhstani students studying in different regions of Türkiye, encourage youth initiatives and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Held on the eve of Republic Day and in the year marking the 35th anniversary of Kazakhstan's Independence, the tournament highlighted the unity and solidarity of Kazakhstani youth abroad and their continued strong ties with their homeland.
