October 25 – Republic Day: symbol of unity and independence of Kazakhstan

On October 25, Kazakhstan celebrates Republic Day, the country's main and only national holiday. This date is a symbol of the revival of our statehood and the starting point of the modern history of independent Kazakhstan. It was on October 25, 1990, that the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR adopted the Declaration of State Sovereignty, proclaiming the integrity of the territory, strengthening national identity and independence of the republic in solving economic and political issues. This document paved the way for our sacred Independence.
The holiday has a rich history: first proclaimed national in 1995, it later changed its status, and in 2009 its celebration was canceled. Historical justice prevailed in 2022, when, on the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Republic Day was restored to its high status. The Head of State stressed that this document has deep historical significance, and the holiday itself is designed to raise the spirit of the people, strengthen statehood, unity and solidarity.
Today, Republic Day embodies the key values of our society – sovereignty, freedom, peace and harmony, on which a Just Kazakhstan is built.
