The road built in 2023 between the Airport and Bereke microdistricts provides a direct connection between the two areas and helps reduce traffic congestion on the city’s main roads.
The issue of waiting at the railway crossing has been explained on several occasions. However, as residents continue to raise concerns, specialists were instructed last week to conduct an additional study of traffic flows involving the National Center for Quality of Road Assets and the city’s Police Department. Monitoring was carried out over the course of one week at different times of the day.
The results of the study were presented at today’s staff meeting. According to the findings, more than 10,000 vehicles use this road daily. During the monitoring period, the railway crossing was closed 21 times. The duration of the red signal prohibiting traffic ranged from 2 to 14 minutes.
This road helps ease traffic congestion on Nazarbayev Avenue, which carries approximately 35,000 vehicles per day.
The current traffic arrangement is a temporary solution. The construction of an overpass across the railway line is being considered as a way to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow. This issue is being examined as part of the amendments to the city’s master plan.
