Digital Assets and taxes: what you need to know?

    Dear taxpayers,
We analyze the key rules of taxation when making transactions with digital assets.
The tax is not paid on the entire sale amount, but only on the increase in value (net profit) — that is, on the difference between the sale price and the purchase price of a digital asset. This difference, according to paragraph 2 of Article 389 of the Tax Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, will be income from transactions with digital assets.
For the correct calculation of tax liabilities, the cost of acquiring a digital asset must be documented.
IMPORTANT: if it is not possible to document the cost of acquiring digital assets, then according to paragraph 6 of Article 389 of the Tax Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the initial cost is assumed to be zero. In this case, the tax will have to be paid on the entire sale amount.
