Prague, 10 October 2026 – Representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Czech Republic attended the official opening ceremony marking the launch of Vietnamese airline “VietJet Air’s” first flight on the Hanoi–Almaty–Prague route, held at Václav Havel Airport Prague.
The inaugural VietJet Air flight arrived in the Czech capital carrying approximately 200 Kazakhstani citizens. The launch of this new air service is of particular practical importance to Kazakhstan, providing additional opportunities for travel, strengthening people-to-people contacts and enhancing the country’s connectivity with Europe.
The opening of the route marks an important development in air connectivity between Southeast Asia, Central Asia and Europe. Linking Hanoi, Almaty and Prague, the new service creates further opportunities for tourism, business and cultural exchanges between Viet Nam, Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic.
Speaking at the ceremony, Radomír Lašák, Chairman of the Board of Prague Airport, described the launch of regular flights to Hanoi as a major step in expanding the airport’s long-haul international network. He welcomed VietJet Air’s decision to select Prague as a new destination in its European expansion and expressed the expectation that the new routes would carry more than 67,000 passengers in both directions during the first year of operation.
According to information provided by the airline and Václav Havel Airport Prague, flights on the new route operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, using modern Airbus A330-300 wide-body aircraft with a capacity of up to 377 passengers. Tickets are also available for the Prague–Almaty sector separately, creating additional opportunities for passenger travel between Kazakhstan and the Czech Republic.
The launch of the service is expected not only to promote tourism but also to strengthen trade and economic ties, expand business contacts and improve Kazakhstan’s accessibility for European partners. The additional air connection offers more convenient travel options for businesspeople, tourists, students and those visiting family and friends.
The new route is particularly relevant to efforts to further strengthen Kazakhstan–Czech cooperation. Air connectivity between Almaty and Prague creates additional opportunities to develop interregional ties, broaden business contacts and advance joint initiatives in tourism, trade and investment.
The launch of the Hanoi–Almaty–Prague route represents a significant step towards enhancing Kazakhstan’s international transport connectivity and creating new opportunities for cooperation between Central Asia and Europe.
