A solemn ceremony of awarding diplomas to graduates of the technological college was held in the women's penal colony in the Abai region. More than 30 convicted women have successfully completed their studies and received diplomas in secondary special education.
The training was conducted by convicts aged 24 to 57 years. They have mastered the professions of "Seamstress" and "Cook" that are in demand on the labor market. During the school year, the students not only studied theoretical subjects, but also acquired practical skills that would help them successfully find a job and start an independent life after their release.
A special highlight of the event was the exhibition of works by graduates who studied in the specialty "Seamstress". The guests were presented with products made by their own hands during the training period. Each job became a confirmation of the acquired skills, creative approach and responsible attitude to the chosen profession.
— Vocational education opens up new opportunities for convicts. Our task is to create conditions under which a person, being released, will be able to provide for himself and his family with honest work. The acquired profession increases the chances of successful employment, promotes social adaptation and reduces the risk of reoffending. Obtaining professional education in correctional institutions is an important part of the process of resocialization of convicts. Mastering sought-after professions allows them to adapt to life in freedom faster after their release, find work and build their future based on a law-abiding lifestyle," said Anar Sabiyeva, Deputy head of the institution.
— I am 57 years old. For a long time, I lived without thinking about the consequences of my actions. I have a son, a daughter, and beloved grandchildren, but it wasn't until I was here that I truly realized the value of family, freedom, and honest work. I'll be free very soon. I want to work, earn money on my own, and delight my grandchildren with gifts, and become a grandmother they will be proud of. I am sure that the profession of seamstress that I got here will be the first step towards a new life for me," the convict shared.
