The road repair season in Kostanay is nearing completion. This year, 5.5 billion tenge has been allocated for the improvement of the city’s road infrastructure. The works covered approximately 28 kilometres of urban roads and 35 courtyard areas.
Most of the major road repair works have been completed. Of the 47 planned sections, work has been fully completed on 41, while repairs are still underway on four more sections. In addition, routine road maintenance covering an area of 78,000 square metres has been fully completed. Reconstruction has also been carried out on the section of Narimanov Street between Abai and Altynsarin Streets.
The improvement of courtyard areas is also ongoing. This year, renovation works are being carried out in 35 courtyards. Once all the planned works are completed, the share of renovated courtyard areas in Kostanay will reach 99%.
In addition, sidewalks are being repaired, street lighting is being upgraded, road signs are being installed, and traffic lights are being modernised. In 2026, work to widen eight intersections was completed. These measures will increase road capacity and improve traffic safety.
Particular attention is also being paid to pedestrian safety. A total of 72 projection-based pedestrian crossings have been installed at 40 locations across the city. These devices make pedestrian crossings more visible to drivers at night, helping to improve pedestrian safety. The installation work has been fully completed.
