Why was the National Product Catalog created ?
On October 27, 2021, the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov spoke at the Digital Bridge International Technology Forum, telling about ongoing projects in the field of digitalization.
Thus, the Ministry of Trade and Integration is implementing the project "National Catalog of Goods". The project will serve as a unified register with a description of goods, which will allow controlling the turnover and regulating prices on the Kazakh market.
The national catalog will present a full description of the properties and characteristics of this product, media content, weight-dimensional and consumer characteristics, certificates and other information about the product. And the source of this data will be the manufacturers, importers, distributors themselves. After their registration in the Catalog, entrepreneurs will be able to register their goods.
As Bakhyt Sultanov noted, the catalog will become a source of standardized names of goods for retail trade entities. And thus retail stores will receive a reference book for fixing a single product name on fiscal receipts.
For the state, the catalog will become a tool for identifying goods containing digital passports of goods.
"Through a uniform name, it is possible to determine who, where, when, for how much and what goods sold, which as a result will increase the effectiveness of monitoring prices for goods, including socially significant food products," the head of the department said.
As previously reported, the project is planned to be launched by the end of 2021.
